Police Foils Kidnap Attempt In Katsina, Rescues Victim

Katsina State Police Commandin a dramatic showcase of bravery, gallantry, and efficiency, successfully foiled a kidnapping attempt, rescued a kidnapped victim, and recovered suspected rustled animals with two motorcycles after a fierce gun duel with suspected bandits. A statement by the Command Spokesman, Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP), Abubakar Sadiq Aliyu said on August 25, 2023, at approximately 0230 hours, a distress call was received at the Kankara divisional police headquarters regarding the movement of suspected bandits from Hayin Gada of Malumfashi local government area where they kidnapped a 65 years old Hashim Yusuf, towards Ruwan Lafiya village, via Kankara Sheme road in Kankara local government area. ASP Sadiq Aliyu explained that, responding swiftly to the scene, the Police Officers found themselves confronted by a group of armed bandits, heavily armed with dangerous weapons such as an AK-47 rifle, attempting to flee the area with their victim. ASP Aliyu reiterated that, a daring gun duel ensued as the police worked tirelessly to neutralize the threat and secure the safety of the innocent hostage. The Katsina state Police Public Relations Officer emphasized that, the “Police officers exhibited exemplary courage and professional skills as they overwhelmingly outmatched the bandits, and rescued the victim unharmed. “In the process of scanning the scene, ninety-four (94) cows, seventeen (17) sheep, and two (2) motorcycles were recovered,” ASP Abubakar Sadiq Aliyu said. He said the Police operatives are combing the nearby bushes for possible bodies of neutralized bandits as they flee the scene with bullet wounds. Furthermore, he said the state Commissioner of Police, CP Aliyu Abubakar Musa commended the officers’ effort, commitment, and dedication to duty. CP Abubakar Musa advised people of Katsina State to remain vigilant and report to the nearest police divisional headquarters anyone seen with a bullet wound for further necessary action.
